Eetha Trailer Shraddha Kapoor Release Date: Lavani Legend Arrives 4 Dec 2026

The Eetha trailer Shraddha Kapoor release date story is finally here, and it is one of the most striking Bollywood first looks of the year. Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations unveiled the nearly three-minute trailer on 30 October 2026 at Plaza Cinema in Dadar, Mumbai, and it introduces Shraddha Kapoor as Eetha Bai, a Lavani and Tamasha performer fighting for her art, her identity and her respect. The Eetha film release date is 4 December 2026, as announced by the makers, and the trailer has instantly set up the musical drama as Shraddha's big-screen return after the Stree franchise.

Eetha Trailer Shraddha Kapoor Release Date: What the Trailer Shows

The Eetha trailer opens on a dramatic image: the protagonist, wounded and angry, throwing mud at a cut-out poster of herself. From there it moves through vignettes of many chapters of her life, each filled with supportive men who urge the Lavani artist to keep going in her pursuit of becoming an artist who sets an example with every phase of her life, including death. The nearly three-minute preview traces Eetha's journey from childhood to recognition, and then turns towards the difficulties that come with fame and the fading of the spotlight.

Two trailer lines have already travelled far on social media. One captures her determination to keep dancing against the odds: "If I die without trying, I'll be remembered as helpless. But if I die dancing, I'll be remembered as a legend." Another, in the film's earthy register, runs: "Mera bharosa hi mera ghamand tha re, jab woh tut gaya na sab tut gaya" — my trust was my pride, and when it broke, everything broke. Together they sum up the film's pitch: this is not a glossy dance film, but a story about betrayal, heartbreak and the price of applause.

Visually, the trailer leans hard into the world of Lavani and Tamasha. Shraddha appears in traditional nauvari sarees, heavy jewellery and ankle bells, performing before large, lantern-lit crowds. The camera lingers on the performance, but the story beats underneath are about a woman navigating the challenges of her personal and professional life while trying to establish herself as a performer in a world that brands her an outcast. The trailer ends with a dramatic monologue in which the character wears her Maratha identity with pride, making her mark in an elitist crowd.

Who Was Vithabai? The Real Lavani Legend Behind Eetha

Eetha draws inspiration from Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra's most celebrated Lavani and Tamasha artists. Born in Pandharpur in 1935 into a family of folk performers, Vithabai began performing at a young age and became one of the best-known names in Maharashtra's Tamasha and Lavani traditions, earning the title of Lavani Empress. One widely reported incident from her life describes how she went into labour during a Tamasha performance, delivered her baby backstage and was prepared to return to the stage.

Despite her popularity, Vithabai reportedly faced personal and financial difficulties in later life. She also worked to improve the lives of Tamasha artistes, helping performers secure government pensions. She died in January 2002, but her contribution to Maharashtra's folk culture is still celebrated. Director Laxman Utekar has been careful about the film's claim on her life: asked whether the makers had taken permission from Vithabai's family, he clarified that Eetha is not a direct biopic. It takes inspiration from certain incidents recorded in the book Tamasha: Vithabaichya Ayushyache, and, in Shraddha's words at the trailer launch, it is the story of all those Tamasha artists, thousands of them.

Eetha Cast, Music and Crew: The Full Line-Up

Eetha is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharma under the banners of Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations. For Utekar, the film marks a sharp departure in setting and subject from his previous release Chhaava. He said after the blockbuster success of Chhaava, which became a mega cinematic spectacle, he wanted to take audiences into a completely different world with Eetha, while keeping both films rooted in the extraordinary strength of their central characters.

Shraddha Kapoor's preparation for the role was physical as well as musical. She revealed at the trailer launch that she suffered a muscle tear while shooting a dance sequence, and that the shoot had to pause so she could recover. "I had to understand Lavani, I had to practise a lot," she said, describing a week-long workshop with veteran Lavani dancer Shakuntala Nagarkar to understand the aadaye and nazakat, the grace and coquetry, of the form. Producer Dinesh Vijan said the film is a celebration of an art form and of the remarkable women whose lives deserve to be seen, heard and remembered, noting that Hindi cinema has celebrated Lavani performances for generations without often stopping to understand the journeys behind them.

Why Eetha Matters: Shraddha's Maddock Reunion After Stree 2

For Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha is a homecoming as well as a risk. She called it her grand reunion with Maddock Films after Stree and Stree 2, the horror-comedy franchise that made her one of the most bankable stars of the decade. Eetha swaps that franchise's crowd-pleasing supernatural comedy for a rooted, music-driven period drama about a folk artist, and it asks Shraddha to carry the film almost entirely on performance, dance and dialogue rather than on franchise familiarity.

The timing is also deliberate. Bollywood Hungama reported that Eetha gets a solo window on 4 December 2026, with a second consecutive box-office clash between Akshay Kumar and Shraddha Kapoor averted. A clean release date matters for a film like this: Lavani is beloved in Maharashtra but unfamiliar to much of the Hindi-speaking audience, and the film's success will depend on whether the trailer's curiosity converts into footfall beyond its home turf. The early signs are encouraging for the makers — the trailer's dialogue lines are already circulating widely, and the film gives Maddock a prestige musical drama to close out 2026 after a year dominated by big franchise and epic releases.

There is a cultural stake here too. Lavani and Tamasha have rarely been the centre of a mainstream Hindi film, and Eetha arrives as a rare big-screen attempt to treat folk performers as protagonists rather than background colour. If it works, it opens a lane for stories from India's regional performance traditions; if it struggles, it will still have put Vithabai's name in front of an audience that had never heard it. Either way, 4 December 2026 is now a date worth circling for anyone who follows Bollywood's more ambitious bets.
